LIGAMENT TEAR

Ligaments are bands of soft tissues and made of lots of fibres which connects two bone bodies. Ligament injury or torn ligament is the commonest condition especially in sports. Knee joint and ankle joint are more vulnerable to the tear of ligament. When the joint is stressed beyond its normal range, the ligament get strained and subjected for tear. Main causes for tear of ligament is an extreme twist or land awkwardly. When the ligament get injured, there is sudden acute pain and swelling happened. And normal functioning of the joint get hampered. Grade 1 and 2 sprains heals with few days to weeks with proper rest. But the later stage, that is injury to the ligament should be seriously checked by the expert to know if any surgical correction is needed.

TENNIS ELBOW

Tennis elbow is otherwise called as lateral epicondylitis, which is the inflammation of elbow joint caused by repeated strain to the joint. Pain is seen at the lateral part of the joint and radiated through the backside of the forearm. Tendon are group of fibres that connects a muscle with the bone. In Tennis elbow the tendon that connects extensor group of muscles to the elbow joint get inflamed and results in severe pain. Continuous strain causes mild rupture of the tendon and causes inflammation and pain.

GOLFER’S ELBOW

Golfer's elbow is otherwise known as medial epicondylitis which is the inflammation of the medial part of the elbow. It affects the tendon that connects flexor group of muscles to the elbow joint. It is due to the overuse and increased strain of the muscles and bones. Activities like continuous gripping movements, rock climbing, throwing etc leads to the condition. The management of Golfer's elbow should aim at improving the blood flow, reliev pain and reduce inflammation of the joint.

Management

•Isometric wrist strengthening exercises for extension
• Isometric wrist strengthening exercises for flexion
• Resisted extension
• Resisted wrist golfer’s elbow stretch
• These are some of the measures to correct this medical condition.
